Reconciliation (Loki x Reader) Ch. 1

Face pressed up toward the sky, young ___ held out her tongue to catch the falling flakes of snow. Losing balance on the tip of her toes, she fell backwards onto the cushiony layer of snow on the ground. And just in time, too, because as soon as she hit the snow beneath her, a snowball came whizzing over her head where she had just been.

"Drat!" she heard from the edge of the clearing she was now sitting in. She turned around to see Thor peeking out at her from behind a tree, a scowl on his face. With movements as quick as a five-year-old could muster in the snow of an Asgardian winter, ___ stood up and ran behind a large oak on the opposite side of the clearing. Giggling, she scooped up snow in her hands and began packing it together as she heard Thor's boots tromping toward her location. With a quick peek around the tree to determine his location, she sent her snowball flying at her friend. It landed with a satisfying slosh! on his face. He stood in the knee-deep snow, spitting the cold slush out of his mouth.


"Wait-" she said out loud, looking around the small forest. Where there was one Odinson, there was usually-


SMACK!


A hard snowball encased in a thin layer of ice landed right on top of her head. ___'s hands flew up to her new tender spot. She then cast a sharp glare up into the oak, where a smirking Loki was perched in one of the branches, his next snowball in hand.


"Loki!" ___ and Thor cried in unison, "We said no ice in the snowballs!"


"I know," he called from his advantageous sitting place, "But you never said anything about ice around the snow!"


"It's the same thing!" Thor yelled up at his little brother, stomping a foot on the ground for emphasis, water droplets flinging every which way from his hair that was still wet, thanks to ___'s good aim.


"No it's not," the brother replied smartly, sending another ice-encased snowball down. ___ and Thor both scrambled away from the tree and into the forest. After several minutes of the two hiding, Loki got bored of waiting for his playmates to return. 'What's taking them so long?' he thought, 'Are they playing without me?' Loki's small mouth scrunched down into a frown. He didn't like the idea of ___ playing with Thor and not him. ___ was HIS friend, not his brother's.


In a scramble of skinny toddler limbs, Loki climbed down the tree to look for his peers. All of a sudden, two snowballs came flying at him from two different directions. Unable to react in time, they made contact with Loki's thick winter coat. Laughter sounded from the two directions as the heads of Thor and ___ popped out from behind bushes. Thor trudged his way over to where Loki was lying in the snow, unamused.


"Are you all right, brother?" he asked, kneeling over his victim. Loki stuck his tongue out in response. ___ walked over and giggled at Loki's defeated expression.


"We win!" she exclaimed, taking pride in the moment of tricking the ultimate trickster by poking his cheeks. His face turned a brighter red than the red from the cold weather.


"Oh yeah?" he retorted, a glint of mischief in his glare. He reached over toward the tree and picked up a thin rope that had been hidden in the snow.


With a yank on the rope, ___ and Thor found themselves getting snow dumped on them from up high in the branches of the oak. Crawling out of the new snow pile, ___ looked over at Loki, who was now back to grinning at his own cleverness.
"I believe I win, ___" he stated simply, before scampering off in the direction of his and Thor's home.
